St Barnabas Church

The opening night at The Judgement Hall is a sustained encounter with voice, resonance, and spatial transformation. St Barnabas is reconfigured for two works that treat sound as an architectural force.

NYX present material as a live, site-responsive form: collective voice, electronics, and extended harmonics shaped by proximity, duration, and acoustic response. Vocal layers expand and contract within the church’s vertical volume; seating, lighting, and performer placement place the audience inside the sound.

Thomas Stone’s The Shunned Path, developed through long engagement with resonant sites, works with bass instruments, extended tones, and sustained cycles. St Barnabas is tuned for low-frequency presence and temporal stretch, letting sound linger, overlap, and slowly transform into a shifting field of pressure and release where acoustic and electronic elements blur.
